Our client is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide monthly closing process and financial analysis support within the Finance Team. The ideal candidate is a CPA with 5+ years of accounting experience (including public accounting), has a passion for entrepreneurship, and is looking to join a fast-paced organization. The firm operates successful retail stores throughout the US.
Previous retail, food and beverage accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Complete month-end close deliverables in a timely and accurate manner to meet tight deadlines which include preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation and P&L analysis with supporting schedules
- Perform monthly variance analysis on both P&L and balance sheet
- Inventory life cycle including comprehensive gross margin analysis and management
- Bank and Credit card reconciliations
- Support upgrade of financial system
- Work cross-functionally with other groups (i.e., accounts payable, finance, treasury and business leaders) on day-to-day operations of the business to ensure accurate and complete financial statements
- Seek solutions for accounting problems and make recommendations for process improvements
- Create and recommend operational accounting policies and procedures (i.e., revenue and COGS classification and SG&A accruals)
- Support External Financial Audit Activities
- Special projects occur frequently and should be expected
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA preferred
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in accounting (Pubic & Private Experience Preferred)
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Must have Strong Analytical skills with an ability to focus on details
- Highly proactive and motivated self-starter with roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic
- An Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables and work within strict time frame and adhere to deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Pivots and V lookups
- Experience with the following financial systems: BC 365/Navision a plus
- Retail & Food/Beverage industry experience a plus
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
