Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in Rutherford, NJ that is seeking a Tax Accountant responsible for preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns while working directly with clients to gather information, identify tax opportunities, and resolve questions. The ideal candidate will have strong tax preparation experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements throughout tax season.
This position will also have exposure to tax planning, small business taxation, and more complex returns involving LLCs, S-Corporations, estates, and trusts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns
- Prepare business tax returns for sole proprietor ships, LLCs, and S-Corporations
- Review financial and tax documents for accuracy and completeness
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain required information and documentation
- Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-planning opportunities
- Assist with quarterly estimated tax calculations and year-round tax planning
- Research tax issues and assist with resolving client tax questions
- Assist with estate and trust tax returns as needed
- Support IRS and state tax correspondence and resolution matters
- Maintain organized and accurate client files
- Stay current on federal and state tax regulations and changes
- Work closely with the firm's attorneys and other tax professionals
- Provide professional, responsive service and build long-term client relationships
- CPA AND relevant hands-on tax experience is highly valued
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation or public accounting
- Strong experience preparing individual tax returns
- Experience with business tax returns strongly preferred
- Knowledge of federal and state taxation
- Experience with LLCs and S-Corporations preferred
- Estate/trust tax experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with clients
Ability to work independently in a small-office environment - Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
