Airtech is part of the IDEX Performance Pneumatics Group, delivering innovative solutions for vacuum, pressure, and flow control across critical industries worldwide.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing advanced electrical systems for high‑speed rotating equipment, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for AC motors, DC motor controllers, motor controls, and industrial communication protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and develop electrical systems, support VFDs for AC motors and DC motor controllers, integrate and diagnose CAN‑based communication architectures.
- Conduct performance analysis using MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys Maxwell or similar tools.
- Develop control algorithms (PID, vector control, FOC) and implement them in VFDs or DC motor controllers.
- Perform hardware‑in‑the‑loop and system‑level testing, validate against safety, reliability, and EMC standards.
- Oversee PCB design, fabrication, soldering, wiring harness assembly, enclosure design, and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Utilize 3D printing for prototyping and component development, and apply coating, plating, and painting processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and product management for new product development and process integration.
- Support root‑cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and identify opportunities for reliability improvement.
- Maintain documentation, records for testing and design, and present reliability reports to stakeholders.
- On‑time delivery of project milestones.
- Proper execution of milestone documentation.
- Adherence to milestone processes.
- Low post‑launch quality issues.
- High trust and engagement with team members.
- Strong analytical ability for reliability and problem solving.
- Deep knowledge of power electronics, embedded systems, motors, and control algorithms.
- Experience with AC and DC motor design and VFD/ DC controller development.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSpice, Ansys Maxwell, Python, C++, Creo or Solid Works.
- Knowledge of thermal management, EMI/EMC, mechanical integration, and industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, Ether
CAT). - UL regulatory compliance experience and other electrical standards.
- Experience with rotating equipment (pumps, blowers, bearings, motors, impellers).
- Project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills: internal reviews, design proposals, FMEA development, presentations.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning cycles.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, motor control system design, product development, or product testing.
- Hands‑on experience with AC/DC motor design and manufacturing processes (PCB fabrication, soldering, wiring harness, enclosure).
- Move around, use hands to handle objects, reach, talk and hear.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception.
- Office environment with occasional factory floor visits.
- Requires safety glasses and safety equipment when on shop floor.
- Noise level minimal with intermittent spikes.
- Base salary $ – $, depending on experience.
- Eligible for performance‑based bonus plan.
