The Purchaser is a full-time, on-site role based in Rutherford, NJ, responsible for sourcing and purchasing gourmet food and pastry ingredients from domestic and international suppliers. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing inventory levels, placing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and coordinating with the warehouse and sales teams to ensure product availability and timely replenishment. The role involves negotiating prices and terms, maintaining supplier relationships, and monitoring lead times and product quality.
The Purchaser will analyze usage and sales trends, support new product introductions, and help optimize stock levels to reduce waste and avoid stockouts. This position requires accurate data entry in purchasing systems, adherence to company policies, and collaboration across departments to support operational efficiency.
- Strong procurement and supply chain skills, including vendor sourcing, purchase order management, and inventory coordination.
- Numerical and analytical skills to interpret sales, usage, and cost data and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Proficiency with office and ERP or inventory software, and accurate data entry and documentation practices.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and logistics partners.
- Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of food distribution, culinary ingredients, or hospitality industry operations is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Rutherford, NJ, and collaborate in a fast-paced warehouse and office environment.
- Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
