Graduate Music Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented music graduate who is looking to develop their teaching skills and gain experience at one of the UK’s leading music schools.

Based in our vibrant and highly experienced Music Department, you will contribute to the musical development of students by providing key support across academic and co-curricular activities. The role will be shaped around your interests, skills and strengths, and may include teaching, outreach and administrative support, as well as coaching and accompanying ensembles, orchestras and bands. Depending on your musical skills and expertise, there may also be opportunities for free music tuition and ongoing professional development.

You will work in outstanding facilities, including extensive practice rooms, recording studios, recital and teaching spaces, and state-of-the-art percussion rooms. The department supports a wide range of ensembles, rock groups and music societies, from orchestral and jazz groups to rock and contemporary music. Working closely with the Head of Jazz, Pop and Music Technology, you will also help facilitate solo rock concerts and Battle of the Bands competitions.

There are also additional pastoral and co-curricular opportunities beyond the Music Department, including the possibility of tutoring in a boarding house or providing coaching support to one of the school’s sports teams.

You will ideally be a performing musician who is capable of contributing to a range of different musical tasks across the department. You will demonstrate the ability to coach and direct instrumental and/or vocal ensembles, motivating students of all levels and abilities. Additionally, practical experience of music technology and production would be highly desirable.
