Rutland Regional Medical Center seeks a Director Finance & Accounting to lead financial strategy, reporting, and compliance for Vermont's second-largest hospital. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle, and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals. The Director partners with clinical and administrative leaders to support data-driven decisions, optimize reimbursement, and manage risk. You will lead and mentor a collaborative finance team, drive process and system improvements, and help sustain high-quality, community-focused patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to support hospital strategic goals
  • Oversee general ledger, month-end close, and preparation of accurate financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, and internal financial controls
  • Manage revenue cycle, reimbursement, and cost reporting to optimize financial performance
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders on business cases and capital planning
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs, dashboards, and variance analyses for leadership
  • Guide annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors and regulators
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members, fostering collaboration and accountability
  • Support long-range financial modeling and scenario planning for the medical center
  • Recommend process improvements and financial systems enhancements to increase efficiency
