Job Description

Job Description Infection Preventionist The Infection Preventionist will serve as the organization’s Infection Control Officer and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the infection prevention program, including setting appropriate infection prevention goals and objectives for the organization. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the review and revision of hospital policies and procedures. The Infection Preventionist will be responsible for educating staff in the use of tools and techniques to reduce the risk of infectious diseases among patients, staff, visitors, and the community.

This will be accomplished through the creation of an Infection Control Plan and Risk Assessment, the Infection Control committee, coordination with Accreditation, and collaboration with RRMC leaders. This position utilizes quality improvement & project management tools and methods to plan, implement, and lead improvement projects. They are also key in data interpretation and communication regarding the infection prevention realm. This will support the organizations’ key strategic priorities as they relate to infection prevention.

Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Work Experience3 years’ experience in an acute care or post-acute care setting.

Infection prevention experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience using quality improvement and project management tools and methods.

Experience working with organizations such as Center for Disease Control, The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Experience gathering and analyzing large and complex sets of data.

Required Licenses/Certifications Current Professional

Licensure/Certification s in accordance with degree/profession.

Board Certified Infection Control (CIC), within 2 years of hire.

Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is desirable.

Certified as a Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) is desirable.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams with positive results.

Knowledge of clinical terminology and clinical processes/practices.

Working knowledge with microbiology, asepsis, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, education, and statistics.

Demonstrated working knowledge of universally accepted quality improvement methods and change management.

Strong Microsoft desktop application skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web browsers).Willingness and ability to utilize personal vehicle for work purposes.

Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess and analyze process and outcome information as well as the effectiveness of programs.

Facilitation and presentation skills.

Team-building skills.

Problem-solving skills.

Pay Range = $38.91 - $56.68c-
