Overview

Sym Quest, part of Konica Minolta, currently offers a Service Desk Engineer position. Priorities will be given to candidates residing in South Burlington, VT;
Rutland, VT;
West Lebanon, NH;
Plattsburgh, NY; and Westbrook, ME. In this role, you will provide remote and onsite technical support for Microsoft-based business environments. This is a great opportunity for long‑term career growth. You must be excited about technology, self‑motivated, and enjoy serving others. Ideal candidates have real world experience in helpdesk or network administration, and a solid understanding of Windows workstation and server operating systems, application installation and troubleshooting, and Active Directory administration and management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide remote technical support to clients over the phone using remote control tools
  • Conduct onsite technical support at client locations as needed
  • Diagnose and resolve workstation, server, and network infrastructure issues
  • Perform user account management – add, edit, or disable accounts; set up new application users, etc.
  • Troubleshoot backup, malware, virus, and other technical challenges
  • Help provision new laptops, desktops, and mobile devices
  • Work with application vendors to troubleshoot application errors
  • Answer end‑user questions and remediate issues
  • Provide service that creates “raving fans” for clients
  • Build solid, long‑term relationships with team members and clients
  • Continue skills development and maintain proficiency in current technologies
  • Allocate time to remote technical support (60%), onsite network support (25%), documentation and meetings (10%), and continual professional development (5%)

  • Windows 10 & 11 and associated hardware platforms
  • Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2021 & 2025 and associated hardware platforms
  • VMware or Microsoft Hyper‑V virtualization technologies
  • Anti‑virus, anti‑spam, and anti‑spyware solutions
  • Backup and recovery technologies
  • Citrix and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
  • Firewalls, routers, and managed switches
  • LAN / WAN / wireless networking hardware and software technologies
  • Systems management software such as HP Insight Manager and Dell Open Manage
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related role
  • College degree preferred (minimum of a two‑year college degree or equivalent experience)
  • Exceptional listening skills and the ability to translate client descriptions into technical detail
  • Excellent communication skills – step‑by‑step directions over the phone and clear written communication
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a personable demeanor
  • Strong internal drive and focus to overcome technical challenges
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team to meet goals
  • Self‑confidence with knowing when to seek advice from teammates or vendors
  • Driven to learn new products and technologies through education and certification
  • Maintains a high level of competency with supported technologies
  • Real‑world experience in a network administration or help‑desk position
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Desire to solve technical challenges
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware are a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of workstation and network operating systems, network applications and LAN / WAN / wireless technologies
