Travel Nurse RN - PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Job Summary

Travel Nurse (RN) – PACU – Post Anesthesia Care in Rutland, Vermont. 13‑week assignment starting 06/29/2026. 40 hours per week, 8‑hour day shifts. Travel assignment.

• Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess post‑anesthesia condition.
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ vital signs, level of consciousness, and recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per post‑anesthesia nursing techniques.
• Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of recovering patients.
• Observe and document patient conditions, treatments, and incidents; notify care team of significant changes.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations using PACU nursing standards, policies, and protocols.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records.
• Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with surgical team and other providers for comprehensive post‑operative care.
• Participate in patient handoff communications between OR, PACU, and post‑PACU units.
• Operate and monitor PACU‑specific equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

• One year of recent experience as a PACU RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
• ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.

• PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications.
• Other certifications or licenses that may be required for this position.

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills.
• Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment up to 100 lbs, push, pull, and bend.
• Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel maintaining a positive attitude.
• Technical skills: grasp, fine manipulation, operate equipment.
• Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close or independent supervision, handle irregular activities, maintain concentration.
