Job Summary
Travel Nurse (RN) – PACU – Post Anesthesia Care in Rutland, Vermont. 13‑week assignment starting 06/29/2026. 40 hours per week, 8‑hour day shifts. Travel assignment.
Essential Duties- Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess post‑anesthesia condition.
- Monitor and evaluate patients’ vital signs, level of consciousness, and recovery from anesthesia.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments per post‑anesthesia nursing techniques.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of recovering patients.
- Observe and document patient conditions, treatments, and incidents; notify care team of significant changes.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using PACU nursing standards, policies, and protocols.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records.
- Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with surgical team and other providers for comprehensive post‑operative care.
- Participate in patient handoff communications between OR, PACU, and post‑PACU units.
- Operate and monitor PACU‑specific equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications.
- Other certifications or licenses that may be required for this position.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions; proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment up to 100 lbs, push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel maintaining a positive attitude.
- Technical skills: grasp, fine manipulation, operate equipment.
- Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close or independent supervision, handle irregular activities, maintain concentration.
