Job Summary

Assistant Professor of Marine Ecology, 60% teaching, 30% research and 10% service.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 3–4 undergraduate courses per year, including Shellfish Mariculture, Marine Biology, Ichthyology, Plankton Ecology, Genetics, and other courses supporting the Marine Biology and Integrated Biology programs.
  • Direct the Marine Field Station and actively pursue research grants.
  • Incorporate frequent field trips to local marine environments into courses.
  • Develop relationships with regional non‑profits, research centers, and departments across the University of Maine.
  • Develop internships, research opportunities, and courses that promote partnerships with diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) initiatives.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Marine Biology or a closely related field awarded by August 2026.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Active peer‑reviewed publishing record.
