Process Engineer

The Slingmax Group is excited to announce an opportunity for a Process Engineer with Yale Cordage, part of the Slingmax Group family.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Quality, the Process Engineer is primarily responsible for working on current and in-development products for the Yale Cordage division of the Slingmax Group. Products include synthetic fiber rope used in a wide range of applications and industries. The role combines product development and quality management responsibilities.

• Improve safety, productivity, and quality by means of structured problem solving, implementation of comprehensive testing programs, root cause analysis and corrective action, and use of statistical methods and critical reasoning.
• Identify process weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
• Make recommendations to the management team that will result in higher productivity and throughput, and reduced overall scrap rate, while reducing cost.
• Become familiar with the Slingmax division high-performance synthetic fiber lifting slings products and interface with the engineering staff at those facilities.
• Develop a firm understanding of all Yale Cordage products, their functions, and capabilities in an effort to act as an internal resource to employees when addressing customer questions that are technically focused.
• Sustain quality assurance, routine production testing program.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and potential risks related to Quality and Safety.
• Implement change to Safety and Quality processes across multiple facilities.
• Work to understand the full engineering and manufacturing process of Yale products to be able to drive both new product development and continuous improvement of current products.
• Provide root cause analyses and technical reports on RMA materials.
• Operate laboratory testing equipment.
• Write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
• Engage in hands-on work in the manufacturing facility to understand current processes and to help implement new processes and procedures.
• Improve product yield and reduce scrap rate by implementing statistical quality control initiatives.
• 5 - 10% travel anticipated with both domestic and international locations possible.
• Other Duties/projects as assigned.

• Required: Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Field from an ABET accredited program
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Textiles Engineering
• Required: 1–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred: Experience in fibers, textiles, rigging and lifting or other related industries.

• Strong technical writing and written communication skills.
• Previous experience ISO 9001 environments is helpful.
• Experience with Microsoft 365.
• Experience with Solidworks.
• Travel to company locations along East Coast is required as well as potential domestic and international travel to customer locations.

• Experience in fibers, textiles, rigging and lifting or other related industries.
