Summary

The Clinician - Youth works in youth services providing clinical assessment, treatment, and care coordination to children and adolescents with behavioral health needs and their families. Working within a trauma‑informed, strengths‑based framework, the clinician delivers developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive interventions that promote emotional well‑being, safety, and functional improvement across home, school, and community settings. This role collaborates closely with caregivers, schools, child‑serving systems, and interdisciplinary team members to support positive youth and family outcomes while ensuring compliance with Maine regulatory, licensing, and organizational requirements.

Salary

Range
  • Conditional Licensure: $60,000 - $62,000 (dependent on years of experience)
  • Independent Licensure: $62,000 - $70,000 (dependent on years of experience)
Essential Functions
  • Conduct intakes, comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, including risk assessments for suicide, self‑harm, and safety concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans in partnership with youth and families.
  • Monitor progress toward treatment goals and adjust interventions based on needs.
  • Provide evidence‑based therapeutic interventions appropriate to youth developmental stage and clinical presentation.
  • Engage youth, families, and caregivers as partners in treatment through shared decision‑making and strengths‑based approaches.
  • Incorporate youth voice and choice into all aspects of care.
  • Support caregivers in understanding behavioral health needs, skill development, and crisis prevention strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and care planning activities.
  • Support continuity of care, including referrals and transitions between levels of care when needed.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Identify and respond to emerging and immediate safety concerns, including using crisis intervention techniques and safety planning.
  • Follow protocols related to critical incidents, mandated reporting, and duty to warn.
  • Coordinate with supervisor and crisis services as needed to ensure youth and family safety.
  • Participate in required supervision, consultation, and training.
  • Demonstrate openness to feedback and commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive organizational culture that values collaboration.
  • Adhere to trauma‑informed care principles in all interactions.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and outcome measurements.
  • Participate in on‑call as necessary.
  • Meet all set program expectations and deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or closely related field with some concentration in family systems and family development required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • LCSW or LCPC preferred; conditional licensure required.
Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience working with children (and their families) who have severe emotional disturbance, or mental health challenges, autism or PDD.
