Wheelchair Driver - Androscoggin County, ME

Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws and regulations.
• Transport passengers to and from medical facilities and/or homes in a timely and safe manner.
• Familiarize oneself with designated routes and utilize maps or GPS systems to efficiently navigate to destinations.
• Inspect the vehicle for maintenance needs and keep it in good working order; maintain a clean interior and exterior at all times.
• Complete a mechanical checklist at the start of each shift and report any mechanical problems to management.
• Enter daily trip sheets for each transport and ensure all required permits, licenses, and documentation remain up-to-date.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism with all passengers.
• Handle basic issues and problems, referring more complex matters to higher-level staff.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Comply with the expectations of organizational contracts and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards for driving and vehicle safety.
• Attend Information Systems security trainings and report any security problems.
• Participate in other projects or duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma required (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
• Zero or more years of driving experience.
• Valid driver’s license for the appropriate vehicle type.
• Clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations or accidents.
• In-depth knowledge of navigating the local area to utilize the safest and most efficient routes possible.
• Excellent driving skills and ability to handle various road and weather conditions.
• Customer‑service oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and schedules.
• Physical fitness and stamina for long hours of driving.

• Hourly wage: $17 – $25 per hour.
• Company vehicle, gas card, and smartphone stipend provided.

• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Bending, twisting, crouching, and reaching overhead and laterally.
• Providing members with additional assistance as needed.
• Pushing or pulling a loaded wheelchair up to 300 lbs.
