Job Description and Duties

As the Accounting Administrator II, you will function as a highly skilled professional managing and overseeing the workload of professional accounting staff in the Fiscal and Business Services unit. You will work independently and use good judgment to produce accurate, high quality work products, manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet due dates, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and have good oral and written communication skills.

Specifically, you will:

  • Oversee accounting duties for month end and year end closing activities.
  • Oversee the preparation of the office’s financial statements, which includes expenditure accruals.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, cash and expense reconciliations and budget to actual reports.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for FI$Cal and provide training to staff on accounting processes and system functionality.
  • Monitor complex financial reports, projections, and analyses for executive management and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate audits and respond to inquiries from oversight agencies, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on technical issues and professional development.

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid telework eligible; alternate work location must be in California and meet ergonomic, privacy, and safety requirements.
  • Office environment with air conditioning, elevator access, and adequate lighting.
  • Extended periods of sitting and use of standard office equipment.
