Staff Accountant

Location:
Sacramento, CA (Border of Sacramento & Rancho Cordova)

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract

Work Schedule:
Hybrid (3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)

The Junior Staff Accountant supports the Accounting department by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger integrity, and assisting with reconciliations, audits, and financial analysis. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Research and resolve discrepancies and variances
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Support internal and external audits (prepare work papers and documentation)
• Contribute to budgeting and financial analysis
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
• Identify process improvements and support automation initiatives
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field)
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
