Job Description and DutiesUnder general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I, the Accounting Officer (Specialist) will perform professional accounting duties of average difficulty pertaining to review and analysis of local assistance projects. The role ensures safeguarding of assets, compliance with fiscal and accounting policies, and requires regular and punctual attendance.
Working ConditionsEmployees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light, with occasional temperature fluctuations. Working hours will be set between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Overtime may be required, and vacations may be restricted during peak times and fiscal year end closing. Travel within the state may be required but is not frequent. The position may be eligible for telework at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy.

Desirable Qualifications- Knowledge and experience in accounts payable operations of an accounting office.
- Experience in analyzing, identifying, and implementing process improvements and customer service enhancements.

- Ability to act independently, use good judgment, and exercise initiative.
