Responsibility OverviewUnder general direction from the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Associate Accounting Analyst independently performs the more difficult accounting duties which require strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills and understanding of the entire accounting processes which include but are not limited to reviewing proposals to change accounting procedures, preparing expenditure analysis reports for management and assisting in completion of the year‑end accrual activities.
This position requires successfully completing quality work assignments and meeting deadlines, as required; and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to frequent workload changes based on organizational priorities and work under pressure for time‑sensitive, high‑priority projects. This position performs in a lead capacity and will exercise moderate control in the administration of established policies and procedures, and has ongoing contact with management, control agencies, other government offices, vendors, and members of the public.

Working ConditionsHCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in‑office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in‑office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises.

The expectation is that all staff will work in office 4 days a week July 1, 2026.

Desirable Qualifications- Excellent attendance, punctuality, dependability, and work habits.
- Experience using Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Shows initiative in making work improvements, identifying and correcting errors, and initiating work activities.
- Successfully completes quality work assignments and meets deadlines, as required.

- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, State accounting rules and regulations.
- Accuracy with arithmetic, statistical records, and data entry.
