Senior Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a non-profit organization in the Greater Sacramento area. In this role, you will provide high-level accounting support, deliver accurate financial reporting, and help fiscal decision making. This opportunity is well suited for a Senior Accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting work with advisory partnership in a mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

- Lead monthly close activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and reporting deadlines are met.

- Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger activity, and supporting schedules to maintain reliable financial records.

- Perform account and bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding issues promptly.

- Produce financial statements and related reports for leadership teams, offering clear insight into operating results and trends.

- Partner with leadership to support budgeting, financial planning, and informed decision-making.

- Help maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and reporting requirements.

- Analyze financial data to identify variances, recommend corrective actions, and improve overall accounting processes.
