LHH is partnering with a fast-growing construction company in Sacramento that is expanding its accounting team due to strong project growth and increasing backlog. This is a high-impact role offering visibility across operations, project teams, and leadership.
The company is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the nuances of construction accounting, including job costing and project-based financials. What You’ll Do:- Own full-cycle accounting for construction operations, including A/P, A/R, and general ledger
- Manage job costing and project accounting
, tracking budgets vs. actuals - Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and oversee cash activity
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Support WIP schedules, project forecasts, and cost analysis
- Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and equipment tracking
- Partner with operations and project managers on cost controls and reporting
- Assist with audit preparation, tax support, and year-end close
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience,
preferably in construction, contracting, or project-based environments - Strong Quick Books experience (Desktop or Online required)
- Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, or percentage-of-completion accounting
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Experience with ERP systems or construction software is a plus
