Accounts Payable Supervisor

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator II, the Accounting Administrator I – Accounts Payable Supervisor – provides leadership, direction, and evaluation of professional accounting staff and performs accounting duties for CalHR and the State Personnel Board.

• Provide leadership and direction to professional accounting staff.
• Administer and maintain accounts payable systems.
• Perform professional accounting duties in accordance with California laws, fiscal accounting rules, and regulations.
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements and related reports.
• Apply uniform budgeting and accounting principles to state funds.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in state public or government accounting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting principles, the uniform accounting system, and financial record‑keeping.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, and time‑management skills.
• Ability to reconcile complex governmental funds and prepare financial statements.
• Experience with the Electronic State Employment Application (STD 678) and State Examination for list eligibility.

• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CGMA).
• Experience with the Financial Information System for California (Fl$Cal) and CalATERS.
• Proficiency with accounting information systems and financial software.
