Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Billing Analyst
. This position could be based in our Any of our West Cost offices.
- Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as required
- Maintain a portfolio of billing attorneys.
- Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requests.
- Process write-offs following Firm policy.
- Ability to handle a high volume of complex bills in a timely manner (i.e., multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, preparation of electronic bills).
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and clients.
- Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
- Work with applications team to create and implement new billing formats.
- Create and distribute monthly reports.
- Adhere to Firm billing policies.
- Utilize computerized accounting and payables software programs (CMS, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure strict confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with special projects, other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree, or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 or more years hands‑on billing experience in a law firm
- CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently
- Ability to show strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform at high levels in a dynamic ever‑changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative
- Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings
- Silicon Valley and San Francisco $70,000 - $85,000
- Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, and Seattle $66,000 - $81,000
- Portland $63,000 - $78,000
