Job DescriptionUnder general direction from an Accounting Administrator I (AA I), the Senior Accounting Officer, Supervisor (SAOS) is responsible for planning, assigning, directing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of the Cash Receipts Unit accounting staff within the Accounts Receivable & Cash Receipts Section. The Cash Receipts Unit processes incoming mail, submits remittances through the Remittance Processing System (RPS), posts, deposits, and remits all cash receipts including checks and electronic fund transfers (EFTs).
The SAOS must have an understanding of Title 19 (Medical) and Title 21 (Healthy Families) grants. In addition, the SAOS assists in monitoring deposits through the Financial Information System of California (FI$Cal).
- Plan, assign, direct, review, and evaluate work of Cash Receipts Unit staff.
- Process incoming mail and remit receipts via RPS.
- Post, deposit, and remit all cash receipts (checks and EFTs).
- Monitor deposits through FI$Cal.
- Ensure compliance with Title 19 (Medical) and Title 21 (Healthy Families) grant regulations.
- Position Classification: SENIOR ACCOUNTING OFFICER (SUPERVISOR).
- Experience with accounting principles, payroll, and general ledger.
- Understanding of Title 19 and Title 21 grant funding and accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
