The California State Lottery is looking to fill the exciting role of a Tax Analyst!

Job Description and Duties

Are you ready for a new challenge as a Tax Analyst? Do you find satisfaction in completing reconciliations? Do you enjoy providing exceptional customer service?

  • Monitoring and analyzing taxes withheld from prize winners and remitted to the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations for reportable tax payments, deposits and quarterly/annual tax returns.
  • Analyzing payments to determine if vendors should receive a tax form for reportable income.
  • Customer service working with Vendors, Retailers, and Prize Winners to confirm accurate tax information is provided.

This position requires a current Accounting Analyst exam.

Working Conditions
  • Schedule:

    This position is eligible for flexible work hours between 7:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday; however, is required to start the workday no later than 8:30AM.
  • This position is eligible to be remote centered: two (2) days per week in office at Sacramento HQ and telework three (3) days a week. Additional in office days may be required based on business need.
  • Travel:
    Travel to/from offsite training courses may be required.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work as an influential team member.
  • Experience utilizing accounting software/systems and Microsoft applications such as Word, Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create and apply internal policy, process, and/or procedures that are inclusive of accounting and tax principles.
  • Ability to analyze accounting data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Ability to reconcile accounting data and resolve reconciling variances.
