Are you looking to launch your career in professional accounting? We're seeking an Accountant Trainee to join our Billing and Accounts Receivable Reconciliation Unit. This entry-level opportunity offers hands-on training and professional development while supporting the Department of Motor Vehicles' accounts receivable operations.
Key Responsibilities- Establish, maintain, and reconcile various accounts receivable activities for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
- Perform professional accounting work involving the establishment and maintenance of financial accounts and records under close supervision.
- Learn departmental accounting systems, agency operations, and central fiscal control activities.
- Assist with billing and accounts receivable reconciliation processes.
- Develop knowledge of professional accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with program staff and control agencies while building strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a specialization in accounting. (Applicants who are registered senior students may apply but must provide proof of degree completion before appointment.)
- Completion of a prescribed professional accounting curriculum through a recognized residence or correspondence school of accountancy, including coursework in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business law.
- Completion of the equivalent of 19 semester units
, including 16 semester units in professional accounting coursework (elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting) and 3 semester units in business law.
