Job Description and DutiesUnder the general supervision of an Accounting Administrator I, the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional accounting work in establishing and maintaining abatement billings for the State highway, Non‑State highway accounts, and vehicle damage claims receivable arising within specified areas of the State of California. This involves the analysis and verification of accounts, records and other documents between Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS) and CGI Advantage to determine that all statutory and legal requirements have been satisfied.
The incumbent will complete various reconciliations which will require an understanding of the Right of Way Management Information System (ROWMIS) and the CGI Advantage accounting system. The incumbent will communicate financial policy and accountability for the Department's Right of Way Revenue Accounts Receivable Section and analyze the appropriateness of accounts receivable accounting transactions.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Accounting Officer (Specialist) / Accountant Trainee exams. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
Special Requirements and Qualifications- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
