job description and duties

this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the department and is subject to change as business needs arise.

under the direct supervision of the senior accounting officer (supervisor), the accountant i specialist performs the more difficult and complex semi-professional accounting work and account maintenance functions for the unemployment insurance (ui) and disability insurance (di) programs. As part of the benefit accounting section, the incumbent will perform a variety of accounting duties to review and reconcile benefit payments and over payments, including processing remittances, adjustments, transfers, and other accounting transactions.

The incumbent will utilize databases, spreadsheets, and benefit accounting reports to analyze information obtained from federal, state and departmental sources and take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the ui and di trust funds.

the incumbent needs to be flexible and adaptable to frequent workload changes based on organizational workload priorities.
