Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator II, Supervisor this position resides in the Accounting & Purchasing Branch, Accounting Division – Accounting Systems Unit. The State Operation Division's primary responsibilities are general accounting processes for state agencies (payroll, invoice payments, direct transfer payments, etc.). The Accounting Systems Unit performs all of the month end and year end closing procedures for the Accounting Office.
The Accounting Administrator I, Specialist, will independently perform the more difficult accounting duties which require an understanding of the entire accounting process, such as coordinates implementation of accounting for new programs/functions; reviews proposals to change accounting procedures; prepares cash analysis reports for management; coordinates completion of year-end reports. The incumbent is responsible for working directly with various control agencies (State Treasurer's Office, State Controller's Office, Department of Finance, and California State Auditors), FI$Cal and Cal OES personnel.
Prepares the more complex reports for management. Assignments at this level may involve responsibilities which impact the entire accounting operation and will be given broad discretion in the solution of problems.
