Job Description And Duties

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. If you have permanent status and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position/classification at the end of this LT appointment. You will be separated from state service if you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status.

During this 12-month limited-term assignment, you may be entitled to receive health, dental, and vision benefits. You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

The Fiscal Services Division’s Accounting Branch manages and oversees accounting, financial reporting, and fiscal control activities for the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). The branch supports programs by ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. It provides clear guidance and training on accounting policies and procedures, strengthens internal controls, supports continuous process improvements, and ensures compliance with applicable state and federal accounting and financial reporting requirements.

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator II (Supervisor), the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) plans, organizes, and directs staff responsible for grant-related disbursements and complex accounts payable activities. The incumbent ensures compliance with state and federal grant requirements, accounting standards, and internal control regulations while reviewing and approving complex fiscal transactions. The position oversees grant expenditure reconciliation, funding verification, and reporting activities.

The incumbent coordinates with internal programs and control agencies to ensure accurate and compliant disbursement operations.
