The School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) of the California Department of Education (CDE) is the right team for you.

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I, this position will provide clerical support to the Categorical Allocations and Audit Resolution (CAAR) Office staff and management on all activities related to categorical program apportionments and the audit resolution function. This position requires cooperation with all office staff and other division support staff on division-wide tasks. The incumbent must be able to work independently, perform difficult work assignments, be highly organized, and communicate clearly and tactfully with department managers and staff and local educational agency (LEA) officials.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Type, edit, finalize, or update documents, including general correspondence, apportionment letters and notices, reports, spreadsheets, reference and mailing lists. Review documents for format, spelling, content, and grammar, consistent with the department's style manual and correspondence guide.
* Perform general office duties, including creating and maintaining an office filing system, maintaining copies of subject and chronological files, organizing and archiving materials, faxing, photocopying, scanning, preparing mass mailings, receiving and determining appropriate staff for distribution of incoming mail for the office, contacting state and local governmental agencies by telephone regarding sensitive issues, answering telephones and routing calls to appropriate staff, and updating various manuals.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary range(s) shown on this job posting does not reflect the salary reduction.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
