Position Summary

This FULL-TIME position pays $21.09 per hour and is located in Sacramento, CA. The Office Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to the Medical Billing team, assisting with mail sorting, making outbound and inbound phone calls, and performing data entry functions, and additional job duties as assigned.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This role is currently in office in Sacramento, CA.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support the Medical Billing team with daily administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Sort, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail related to billing and patient accounts.
  • Make outbound phone calls and handle inbound calls to follow up on billing matters, verify information, or route inquiries appropriately (medium call volume).
  • Perform accurate data entry of billing, account, and patient-related information into internal systems.
  • Maintain organized manual and electronic filing systems for billing documentation.
  • Prepare documents for scanning, copying, distribution, and electronic recordkeeping.
  • Track and maintain records using Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and all applicable policies when handling sensitive medical and financial information.
  • Meet established deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a structured office environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize Microsoft Windows–based systems and standard office equipment efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong data entry accuracy with attention to detail (medium volume).
  • Professional and courteous telephone communication skills.
  • Experience with mail handling, filing, and general office support functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Windows.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (data tracking, basic formulas).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Minimum:
    One (1) year of clerical or administrative support experience preferred.
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to complete and pass a Live Scan fingerprinting prior to hire.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move office supplies and documents up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to read and proof documents.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as keyboards, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and filing.
