Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Mailing Machines Supervisor I, the incumbent works independently or as a team and processes outgoing mail. The incumbent is expected to work in the assigned shift performing several job duties such as running high‑speed mail inserting machines, mail sorting machines, and preparing outgoing mail. The incumbent learns to operate high‑speed mail inserting machines and other equipment.
Perform pre and post‑processing activities of each mail process to ensure the rules and procedures of the United States Postal Service (USPS) are met.
Position may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Salary Range A: $3,480.00 - $4,357.00
Salary Range B: $3,769.00 - $4,714.00

Desirable Qualifications- Knowledge of metering machines and United States Postal Service (USPS) equipment
- Experience working with outgoing mail inserter and sorting machines
- Ability to rapidly learn effective and safe operation of Franchise Tax Board (FTB)'s mailing machines and related equipment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and write at a level required for successful job performance
- Ability to work independently and maintain simple cost and production records
- Ability to walk/stand up to 8 hours daily, and wear closed‑toe shoes for safety
- Ability to lift boxes weighing 50 pounds frequently, and up to 70 pounds occasionally
- Experience operating, adjusting, running, and maintaining mailing machines and related equipment
- Knowledge of and experience with personal computers
- Knowledge of Excel and Access programs
- Knowledge of postal regulations and/or mailing guidelines and procedures
- Good time management and dependability
- Good communication skills
- Experience working in an outgoing mailroom
