Position: OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING)
Job Description and Duties

The Caltrans Sacramento Legal Office is looking for a well-qualified and highly motivated Office Technician (Typing) with interest and/or experience in supporting a team of attorneys and/or professional staff.

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor I, or Supervisor II, the incumbent will act as the Legal Division Mail Clerk/Receptionist and is responsible for the processing and distribution of all daily mail and checks, preparing packages for shipment, copying and scanning documents, data entry, mail room/reception functions, and claims and litigation support.

Limited-Term (12 months), may become permanent.

The Caltrans Sacramento Legal Office is one of five offices comprising the Caltrans Legal Division (Sacramento/HQ, Oakland, Los Angeles, Fresno and San Diego). All five offices work together as one Caltrans Legal Division.

Special Requirements

* The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the  website.

* Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

* Incumbent must possess a valid typing certification of 40 WPM.

* A resume is required.

* Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate.
