Job Description

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, Facility Support (FSU), the Office Assistant (Typing) will perform a variety of general office duties including mail and document handling; composition of correspondence; filing and records management; ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment; typing and transcription; and document preparation and review for the Board of Parole Hearings (BPH). The incumbent will regularly perform duties requiring adaptation to various situations and must use judgment to apply the appropriate work method to achieve the desired result.

The incumbent may also have lead responsibility over less experienced employees in areas such as training and answering questions on work procedures. Integrity, dependability and regular attendance both in-office and via telework are essential.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirements are detailed in the class specification (see duty statement). The position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated by the class specifications, and a valid typing certificate must be obtained before hiring. Special Requirements
  • Applicants must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming minimum typing speed before being hired.
  • Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency; documentation must be submitted.
  • New applicants must complete a background investigation using Live Scan Fingerprinting, a tuberculosis test/evaluation before appointment and annually thereafter.
  • Documents should be submitted in PDF format.
