The Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) provides legal advice to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The Complex Litigation Administrative Support team assists the OLA Complex Litigation Unit attorney teams, which oversee and advise CDCR on all class action and complex litigation matters. The Coordinator works with attorneys, internal CDCR divisions, the Office of the Attorney General, external agencies, stakeholders, and the private sector on case issues, document production, and court orders related to incarcerated person disability accommodations, health care, mental health, due process, and conditions of confinement.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative, technical, consultative, and analytical support on complex, sensitive, and critical Departmental issues concerning class action and complex litigation lawsuits.
- Assist attorneys, internal and external stakeholders, and the private sector with case issues, document production, and court orders.
- Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of Departmental activities, policies, procedures, and ongoing projects.
- Manage workload under interruptions, re‑prioritize tasks with same‑day or short deadlines, and maintain precision and on‑deadline completion.
- Lead meetings, be proactive, and adjust smoothly under changing priorities.
- Identify and correct potential discrepancies, ensuring all assignment tasks are completed with precision.
- Analyst II classification (minimum education/experience as defined by the Classification Specification).
- Ability to work independently and remotely when required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Experience analyzing data/documents and making independent decisions based on logical reasoning.
- Experience with Excel to review, analyze, and create reports.
- Experience leading meetings or presentations.
- Experience reviewing confidential legal case documents/discovery.
- Experience in a legal office, court setting, or similar workplace.
- Experience paying attention to detail and being highly organized.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite.
