About the Opportunity:The State Operations Center (SOC), Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC) will provide overall support to the Cal OES IST Operations Section team, which is utilized to respond to emergencies and disasters within California. Under the direction of the SOC Operations Chief, Program Manager I (PM I), this position performs a wide variety of operational tasks such as mission coordination, coordination with other members of the Operations Section (Law, Fire & Rescue, Regional Coordinator, Recovery, Victim Services, etc.)
and may serve as primary or secondary support for a Task Force. Serves as an Operations Section Liaison between Cal OES and other internal and external stakeholders during steady state and when disasters, emergencies or events occur.
This position may be responsible for sensitive and confidential matters and requires the use of tact and sound judgment that recognizes the best interests of the State and Cal OES.
The incumbent is expected to be professional; courteous; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, local, State, and Federal officials, and representatives of other organizations; provide timely responses to internal/external customers; follow through on commitments; and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
The assigned ESC is expected to prepare complete and comprehensive reports and provide recommendations; communicate and write effectively; reason logically; analyze problems and situations accurately and be empowered to take effective action(s).

Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Incident Command System Structure
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong computer skills using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc), organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and adaptation to perform under pressure, while focused on mission critical deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet tight deadlines
- Be reliable, dependable, accountable and able to function in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Have the ability to respond to and solve sensitive and/or complex issues with confidentiality, discretion and tact
- Have the ability to work with a variety of people and organizations in a professional and courteous manner
In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.
DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
Conflict of Interest (COI): This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
