Are you currently pursuing a degree in tax, business administration, or a related field? We are looking for motivated students who are eager to learn and develop new skills. As part of our team, you will gain hands on experience in both Personal Income Tax (PIT) law and Business Entities (BE) law, while building valuable administrative and analytical abilities. Your work directly supports the Franchise Tax Board’s (FTB) mission to help Californians meet their tax obligations and fund essential statewide programs.
About the Job:
Under the close supervision of an Administrator I, the student will perform support duties such as: mail letters, bundle outgoing mail, placing supply orders, photocopying, printing, scanning, scribing and proctoring. In addition to these activities, the student assistant will perform a variety of duties in support of Business Entities Collections, Field Collections, Business Transfers, Offer in Compromise, or the Decedent Program outlined below.
Business Entities Collections:
This position will support our reactive collection units to meet collection and customer service goals. The student will also assist specialized teams by organizing, categorizing, and assigning incoming faxes. The student will also complete incoming tax computation requests and send letters to businesses.
Field and Complex Account Collection Bureau:
This position will perform a variety of duties to support the Northern Region Collection and Public Counter Teams to meet the Field and Complex Account Collection and customer service goals, including but not limited to: assisting public counter staff with the least complex account transactions, scheduling appointments and maintaining statistical reports.
Business Transfers:
This position will evaluate and identify the sale of a business or assets of the business using FTB systems. Additionally, the student will analyze routine collection accounts to determine appropriate collection actions.
Offer in Compromise (OIC):
This position will screen Offer in Compromise applications, prepare and mail letters, maintain case logs, and evaluate some OIC requests.
Decedent Program:
This position provides a wide variety of services in support of the Decedent Program including but not limited to: categorizing "No Probate" cases, updating death certificates, and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
