Business Analyst

Job Title: IT Business Analyst
Client: Recology Inc.
Location: Sacramento, CA (3 days per week in office, remainder remote)
Visa: USC or GC

Under limited general direction, the Business Analyst bridges the gap between IT and the business to improve the efficiency of systems and processes. The role assesses system utilization, determines user needs and requirements, and delivers recommendations to stakeholders to eliminate productivity issues and enhance revenue.

• Serve as a liaison between the business and IT to provide systems support, analysis, and technology solutions.
• Conduct requirements gathering by identifying and prioritizing technical and functional needs.
• Coordinate testing with the business team, develop testing scripts, and assist in executing system changes.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of business unit processes and technical systems, focusing on human interaction points.
• Explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical users.
• Assist subject matter experts in ensuring data integrity, testing changes, and analyzing data flows for improvement opportunities.
• Participate in project teams from initiation through implementation.
• Investigate, analyze, and evaluate project feasibility, including cost/benefit estimates and alternative considerations.
• Recommend improvements to products, hardware, tools, software, services, or processes.
• Maintain user procedures, guidelines, and documentation for all system processes.
• Research and resolve process problems.
• Participate in user group meetings and conferences to leverage best practices.
• Support development of self‑service reporting and dashboards.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Five years of relevant experience understanding how multiple systems interact in complex environments.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in stakeholder analysis, requirements engineering, cost/benefit analysis, process modeling, and metrics creation.
• Proven ability to build business cases supported by analysis.
• Experience pulling, analyzing, and reporting on data trends.
• Technical writing experience (reports, procedures, manuals).
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with managers, customers, and vendors.
• Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
• Analytical and detail‑oriented mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio) and data visualization tools (Access, SQL, Google Analytics, Tableau).

• IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA)
• IIBA Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
• IIBA Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)
• IIBA Agile Analysis Certification (AAC)
• PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PBA)

Hourly: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
