JOB OVERVIEW

The Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement is a key member of the Procurement team, reporting directly to the Director of Global Procurement. This role leads and executes strategic sourcing and procurement activities for Cap Ex/engineering and indirect categories, including plant and HQ operations/facilities, IT, and MRO. Depending on skills and qualifications, some categories may be swapped for other indirect areas such as Logistics/Transportation, Marketing, HR, Professional/Consulting Services, and/or Travel.

For Cap Ex, the role develops and executes sourcing strategies for capital projects including equipment, construction services, engineering services, and large-scale facility investments. The role ensures alignment among business goals, cost optimization, supplier relationship management (SRM), and continuous improvement of procurement policies.

The Procurement organization at Blue Diamond Growers aims to create a “best-in-class” sourcing organization. This is a strategic, cross-functional role involving partnering with internal business partners to align on sourcing needs, developing sourcing/category strategies, identifying and implementing savings opportunities, leading SRM (including quarterly business reviews, scorecards, etc.), executing RFIs/RFPs, and negotiating contracts. This role has no direct reports and works cross-functionally with the department and other Procurement Managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Cost Optimization &

    Risk Management:

    Conduct spend analysis and market intelligence to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities aligned with business priorities; drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or delivery timelines; collaborate with Finance to forecast, track, and analyze cost-savings for Cap Ex and indirect categories; monitor and manage procurement risks (supply chain disruptions, inflation/tariffs, contractual liabilities).
  • Policy and Compliance:
    Ensure procurement processes comply with internal policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards; track and report Cap Ex procurement KPIs (savings, contract coverage, supplier performance); support audit, compliance, and financial reporting related to Cap Ex investments; promote adoption of procurement tools, processes, and best practices; assist in developing a Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Leadership and Communication:
    Act as a leader within Procurement, Finance/IT/Procurement, and across the organization; foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and results; clearly communicate procurement activities and strategies to senior management; document and gain consensus to ensure alignment.
REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, economics, finance, engineering, or related field (MBA or CPSM/CIPS preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive procurement experience, with emphasis on strategic sourcing and leadership
  • Experience in Cap Ex and indirect procurement; knowledge of negotiation tactics for marketing, IT, Cap Ex, and service contracts
  • In-depth knowledge of the sourcing process
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and contract management skills
  • Proven ability to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, deliver cost-savings, improve supplier performance, and influence stakeholders
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of investment lifecycle and capital budgeting
  • Experience with eProcurement tools and ERP systems (SAP, Ariba)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills; ability to drive aggressive implementation plans
  • Problem-solving ability and capacity to manage multiple projects and stakeholder needs
  • Efficient work style and commitment to ethical procurement practices and continuous improvement
  • People management/leadership skills to guide and coach direct reports toward development goals
  • Travel: 5-10%
