Classification & Pay Analyst – Analyst II

Position: Classification & Pay Analyst (Analyst II)

Status: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 per month (new to state candidates hired into minimum salary)

Work Location: Sacramento Headquarters, 700 N. 10th Street, MS#6-5 Sacramento, CA 95811. Eligible for hybrid telework. Employees must report to the assigned headquarters office as required. Travel to/from headquarters is the employee’s responsibility.

Job Overview: Under the general direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst II performs varied and complex technical work associated with departmental recruitment efforts. The Analyst II acts independently, providing customer service to programs while ensuring merit‑based hiring practices throughout the recruitment process. The Analyst II conducts salary determinations, duty statement evaluations, and minimum qualification checks while developing departmental policies and procedures.

The Analyst II also conducts training and assists with special projects related to classification and pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct salary determinations, duty statement evaluations, and minimum qualification checks.
  • Develop departmental policies and procedures related to classification and pay.
  • Provide customer service to programs, ensuring compliance with merit‑based hiring practices.
  • Conduct training and assist with special projects related to classification and pay.

Minimum Requirements: All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to clearly demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position on your State Application (STD Form 678). A current Analyst II exam is required.

Desirable

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with the State’s Merit Based Hiring practices.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures.
  • Experience providing customer service in a business environment to management, staff, and the public.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Examination Certification Online System (ECOS).
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines.
  • Experience in conducting training and administering exams.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to analyze and present data to staff of all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
