We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Operations Consultant to support a public‑sector organization during a temporary leadership gap within their purchasing function.
Responsibilities- Serve as a strategic and execution‑focused partner to the administrative services leader, helping balance immediate operational needs with forward‑looking initiatives
- Review, organize, and clean up contracts, partnering closely with legal counsel to ensure accurate tracking and documentation
- Establish or improve tracking systems for contract status, required documents, and stakeholder responsibility
- Create manuals, guides, and basic training documentation for users within a newly implemented system used for requisitions and navigation
- Collaborate across purchasing, technology, and finance to assess asset management processes and recommend improvements
- Support compliance needs related to state mandated training, including communication templates and process documentation
- Develop a go‑forward plan for vendor insurance compliance, including requirements for vendors working directly with vulnerable populations
- Refresh and coordinate internal communications related to purchasing cards and ensure all required agreements are completed
- Evaluate workload distribution and resource utilization across purchasing team members to identify operational gaps and potential efficiencies
- Senior level consulting experience (Senior Manager or Director level), ideally in a smaller or midsized organization
- Background in purchasing, procurement operations, supply chain, or administrative services
- Experience working within California education or government environments
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands‑on execution
- Demonstrated experience creating templates, documentation, training materials, or process guides
- Strong communication skills and comfort partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with discretion and operate effectively in a support‑focused role
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle processes, compliance requirements, and vendor documentation standards
