The Business Development Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives and administrative functions of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council's Business Development team. Serving as a key coordinator, this entry-level position helps ensure business development activities, prospect engagement, research, market visits and internal processes are executed efficiently and effectively in support of the organization's mission to attract, retain, grow and scale businesses throughout the six-county Greater Sacramento region.
This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is eager to gain exposure to the many facets of economic development, including business attraction, industry strategy, investor engagement, regional partnerships and project management. The Business Development Coordinator will work closely with internal teams, regional partners and prospective companies while supporting initiatives that advance the region's economic competitiveness and job creation efforts.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development and works closely with business development team and cross-functional teams across the organization to support strategic priorities and advance the Greater Sacramento Economic Council's economic development objectives.
Duties and responsibilities:- Serve as the primary coordinator for GSEC's Economic Development Directors Task Force (EDDT) investor group, including meeting coordination, communications, agenda development and follow-up on strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to execute GSEC's business development outreach strategy through targeted Linked In campaigns, email marketing, lead generation initiatives and market research designed to identify and engage prospective companies.
- Support business attraction, expansion and retention projects by conducting detailed company, industry and market research; preparing project briefs; coordinating proposal and Request for Information (RFI) responses; and delivering timely intelligence to the Business Development team.
- Maintain and update the organization's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system by accurately tracking prospects, existing companies, site selectors, commercial real estate partners and other key stakeholders.
- Assist in coordinating business development events, executive market visits, site visits, conferences and prospect meetings, including logistics, scheduling, materials preparation, hospitality and follow-up activities.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for the President & CEO including coordinating business development travel, market visits, conferences, meeting logistics, briefing materials and itineraries.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with regional economic development partners, commercial real estate professionals, investors, community organizations, C-suite executives, site selectors and other business leaders to support regional business development efforts.
- Monitor industry trends, company announcements, economic news and target industry developments to identify business opportunities and provide regular intelligence reports and updates to leadership.
- Partner with Research & Strategy, Marketing & Communications and other internal teams to develop presentations, briefing materials, white papers, market intelligence, prospect profiles, and other business development collateral.
- Support the preparation of reports, dashboards, project updates, pipeline tracking and other performance metrics to inform leadership and support organizational decision-making.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills while managing multiple projects, competing priorities, frequent interruptions and time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exercise sound judgment and maintain the highest level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality regarding confidential business prospects, projects, organizational information and partner relationships.
- Represent the Greater Sacramento Economic Council professionally.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the organization's strategic business development initiatives.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, communications, public administration, economics, marketing, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
