Senior Energy Transmission Regulatory Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Energy Transmission Regulatory Specialist to lead and support regulatory activities across a complex electricity transmission environment. The role will provide expert advice on regulatory frameworks, licence obligations, market rules, network codes, and policy developments affecting transmission operations and investment. You will assess regulatory change, identify commercial and operational impacts, and develop clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser, helping ensure that business plans, network development proposals, and operational practices remain compliant, robust, and aligned with wider energy-sector objectives.

Key responsibilities will include preparing regulatory submissions, consultation responses, business cases, and evidence-based reports for regulatory authorities and industry forums. You will coordinate internal contributions, manage regulatory milestones, and represent the organisation in meetings with external bodies, industry participants, government departments, and technical working groups. The role will also involve monitoring legislation and market reform, interpreting complex regulatory requirements, maintaining effective compliance controls, and supporting the resolution of regulatory queries or disputes.

You may lead impact assessments, contribute to tariff and revenue discussions, and provide guidance on the regulatory implications of major infrastructure, connection, flexibility, and decarbonisation programmes.

You will bring substantial experience in energy regulation, electricity transmission, network economics, or a closely related field, together with a strong understanding of regulated utility markets and the policy drivers shaping the transition to a low-carbon energy system. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to translate complex information into practical advice for varied audiences.

You should be confident managing competing priorities, influencing senior decision-makers, and building constructive relationships across technical, commercial, legal, and policy teams. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required; professional accreditation or experience working directly with an energy regulator would be advantageous.
