Overview

J&L Builders is a leading construction company dedicated to delivering exceptional projects with a commitment to excellence and innovation. As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to join our team and play a pivotal role in our operations. The successful candidate will plan, execute, and close projects on site within scope, timeline, and budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

A healthcare and/or life science background is required.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and manage construction projects onsite from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety, quality, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Review project plans and coordinate scope of work, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress and safety, identify risks or issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure timely project execution.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Provide regular project updates to the J&L Project Manager, addressing concerns or changes in project scope.
  • Participate in and lead project meetings, facilitating effective communication among team members and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate project performance on site against key metrics and objectives, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all project documentation, permits, as-builts, and regulatory requirements are properly maintained in the field.
  • Mentor and supervise onsite project team members and subcontractors, providing guidance and feedback.
  • Create, update, and execute project schedules when provided with plans.
  • Identify, facilitate, and manage RFIs, submittals, and schedules for proper execution.
  • Work schedule:

    full-time salary; weekend and shift work may be required depending on project needs.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as the lead Superintendent managing projects.
  • TI and ground-up experience; OSHPD 1 & 2 project experience.
  • Experience in building operating rooms; operating rooms in ASC spaces is a plus;
    Life Science project experience.
  • Ability to interview with potential clients for new projects.
  • Ability to develop project schedules;
    Microsoft Project required, Primavera a plus.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in standard software and tools used in construction.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Physical requirement: able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Travel: valid driver’s license and insurability by the company’s insurance carrier; travel as needed within the Sacramento Valley Region.
  • Background check and drug testing required.
