Experienced Superintendent – Ground-Up Commercial Construction
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on complex, ground-up commercial projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on builder skilled at coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and navigating challenges in real time—without compromising safety, quality, or budget.
Position OverviewAs Superintendent, you will take full responsibility for the jobsite from groundbreaking to project closeout. This role includes oversight of the project schedule, subcontractor coordination, site logistics, and overall field leadership to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including look-ahead and recovery planning.
- Manage daily jobsite activities: labor, equipment, deliveries, and sequencing.
- Monitor and verify subcontractor work for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Lead daily safety briefings, enforce safety protocols, and conduct regular site inspections.
- Maintain detailed field documentation: RFIs, daily logs, progress photos, and reports using tools such as Microsoft Office and construction management platforms.
- Coordinate with local jurisdictions and inspectors for testing, compliance, and approvals.
- Mentor field staff, project engineers, and junior superintendents to foster a high-performance site culture.
- Track productivity, labor hours, and cost codes to support forecasting and resource allocation.
- Troubleshoot on-site challenges (weather, scope conflicts, unexpected conditions) to keep the project on track.
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects ($25M+).
- Proven success as the lead Superintendent on multiple ground-up builds from preconstruction through turnover.
- Expert knowledge of reading construction documents and understanding contract scopes.
- Strong scheduling expertise—able to build, revise, and manage project timelines in MS Project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore, Plan Grid, or similar software platforms.
- Understanding of cost tracking, quantity reporting, and project financials.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills; effective at driving performance and accountability.
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
