Are you an experienced Construction Inspector with a strong background in public works and infrastructure projects? Lumos & Associates is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support critical infrastructure development throughout the Sacramento region.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field and has hands‑on experience inspecting water, sewer, storm drain, concrete, and transportation/roadway projects for public agencies.
What You Will DoAs a Construction Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring public infrastructure projects are built safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards.
- Perform field inspections on public works projects, including:
- Water distribution systems
- Sanitary sewer systems
- Storm drain systems
- Concrete improvements (curb, gutter, sidewalks, structures)
- Roadway and transportation projects
- Verify construction complies with plans, specifications, and agency standards.
- Prepare daily inspection reports documenting progress, quantities, and issues.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and public agency representatives.
- Monitor material quality, installation methods, and workmanship.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Support project meetings and provide field input.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and job‑site requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of construction activities and testing results.
- 3+ years of construction inspection experience on public works or civil infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in utility (water/sewer/storm drain) and roadway construction.
- Experience working with municipal agencies, special districts, or transportation agencies.
- California public works experience strongly preferred (Sacramento region a plus).
- NICET Level I or higher – Construction Materials Testing
- Caltrans JTCP (Soils/Aggregate or Asphalt)
- ACI Field Technician Grade I
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
- ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor
- Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety Certification
- OSHA 10
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel between job sites and offices using a company vehicle.
- Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or fewer demerit points.

The compensation range reflects the Company’s reasonable expectation at the time of posting. We consider a number of factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, and other business needs.
California hourly pay range
$45 - $60 USD
