The Position

This is a continuous filing exam. Next filing cut-offs are at 5:00 pm on: 6/8/26, 6/15/26, 6/22/26, 6/29/26 Under general direction, the Deputy Director, Airport Planning and Development directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the planning and development activities and operations of the department including development of comprehensive plans and programs for utilization of land and physical facilities by the Department of Airports, and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public.

Employment Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; AND Five (5) years of full-time paid management experience in airport planning and/or construction planning and management pertaining to use of airport land, buildings, structures, or other airport site improvements.

Note:

Additional experience (at the supervisory level) and in one of the areas listed above can be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. (30 semester units or 45 quarter units = 1 year of experience.) If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable.

Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements. If the minimum qualifications include an educational or certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirements with the application.
