The ICC Construction/Building Inspector will have overall project responsibility to ensure the construction Contractor’s compliance with the approved plans and specifications, and be the primary point of contact with each client. They will ensure our client’s quality per the approved plans and specifications.
We are looking for two ICC Construction/Building Inspectors to work in Kern County and Baker, CA on-site for our client. Since this role is located at remote locations:
- Project Details and Compensation
- Hourly rate: $75-$90 per hour
- Per diem and approved expenses: Covered by NV5
- Travel: Mobilization and demobilization included, with a monthly trip home
- Schedule: 10-14 hour shifts, typically 40-60 hours per week or more, depending on project requirements and schedule. This position requires flexibility to support evolving field conditions.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Monitor the Contractor’s work activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems.
- Monitor the Contractor’s schedule, alerting the Contractor and the Client should the critical path become foresee ably jeopardized.
- Project cost tracking of the Contractor’s schedule of values.
- Perform Construction Inspection of the Contractor’s work to ensure compliance with the project plans and specifications.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or City.
- Proactively recommend actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
- Recommend resolution of construction issues in a decisive manner to keep projects on schedule and under budget.
- Represent the company to outside organizations and maintain client relations, assessing client needs in support of NV5.
- 3-5+ years of related Construction Inspector experience (Heavy commercial and/or industrial).
- ICC Building Inspector certification a must!
- Candidate must have a valid California Driver’s License.
- Experience providing construction oversight of the Contractor's
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of construction
- Ability to coordinate multiple complex projects
- Conflict Resolution: Effectively manage challenging or adversarial situations, facilitate constructive dialogue, and develop practical, mutually acceptable solutions while maintaining professional relationships.
- Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
- Working knowledge of and basic proficiency with computers. Ability to create and use Construction Inspection Daily logs on computer/tablet. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to utilize other construction-related software, including Microsoft Project and/or Primavera, a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Glasses, Hard Hat, protective footwear, respirators or other PPE's as needed in compliance with OSHA regulations).
