Senior Project Manager – Mechanical Construction - Sacramento, California

Gryphon Oakwood is currently partnered with an established and growing mechanical construction contractor seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its Project Management team in Sacramento, California.

The organization is experiencing continued growth and is expanding its Project Management team. This opportunity is well suited for an experienced mechanical construction professional with a strong background in HVAC, piping, and plumbing who can lead large-scale projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Coordinators, and field personnel.
  • Review project scope, drawings, specifications, contracts, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
  • Manage procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Monitor project progress, labor, productivity, financial performance, and profitability.
  • Identify and resolve project risks, delays, conflicts, and commercial issues.
  • Support preconstruction activities including estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support business development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, contract, and company standards.
  • Oversee project closeout and required documentation.
  • Mentor and develop project management and field personnel.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 8+ years of mechanical construction project management experience.
  • Strong commercial HVAC/mechanical construction experience required.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, life sciences, higher education, or technology projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven experience with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contracts, and change management.
  • Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project closeout.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and developing junior project management and field staff.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or MS Project preferred.
