The Sacramento State School of Nursing is a premier nursing program in California that prepares nurses to lead diverse individuals, families, and communities. We offer a traditional BSN, RN‑BSN, MSN (generalist and school nurse), and School Nurse Credential programs. NCLEX pass rates for the BSN remain above 95% for the past decade.
Areas of instruction include Medical–Surgical fundamentals, Mental Health, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Leadership & Management, Community Health, Public Health, and School Nursing. Faculty with multiple specialties and those interested in mental health are especially encouraged to apply.
Clinical courses run weekdays on day shift; on‑campus labs are offered Monday–Friday. RN‑BSN and MSN courses are predominantly hybrid, with limited weekend labs for MSN students.
Responsibilities- Teach and lead courses, prepare materials, conduct assessments, and hold office hours.
- Grading and timely feedback on assignments and exams.
- Collaborate with department on curriculum and program development.
- Participate in departmental meetings and service activities as assigned.
- BSN and 5 years RN practice (at least 1 year within the last 5 years) for traditional programs; or MSN and 5 years RN practice for RN‑BSN or MSN programs.
- Unencumbered California RN license.
- Advanced education in pharmacology, pathophysiology, assessment, health policy, nursing theory and/or school nursing for MSN candidates.
- Evidence of proficiency in instruction, curriculum design, and assessment.
- Master’s degree in nursing or related health field.
- Experience teaching at graduate level and curriculum development.
- Experience delivering online courses.
- Ability to manage large classes.
- Background in mental health, school nursing, or community health at the Masters level.
