Golden 1 Endowed Professorship

The holder of the Golden 1 Endowed Professorship will be a mid-career to senior faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine whose specialty is in the area of resident education and whose distinguished teaching or educational leadership is widely and/or nationally recognized.

The initial term of the Golden 1 Endowed Professorship is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowedchair/professorship appointments (APM '191, UCO 191 ).

The endowment pay out will support the chair's efforts in teaching and service and further the mission of the Department of Internal Medicine and the campus.
It is expected that the holder of the endowed chair will advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her, educational leadership, teaching, and University and public service.

In addition, as the holder of the Endowed Professorship you are expected to:

* Engage in teaching activities focused in the area of Internal Medicine residency and fellowship and/or education in the medical specialties related to Internal Medicine, including outreach and cross-cultural medicine.

* Engage in student mentoring as well as faculty development in the areas of student teaching and supervision.

* Develop milestone-based curricula, designing individual learning and remediation plans and develop initiatives to improve medical student experience during the course of training in Internal Medicine.

* Teaching Internal Medicine Residents and Fellows during the course of clinical
activities, in seminars, grand rounds and/or formal courses related to education in
Internal Medicine or related medical subspecialties.

* Provide leadership in the area of medical education and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Internal Medicine.

* Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.

* M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O. or equivalent degree

* To qualify for appointment as the endowed professorship holder, candidates must hold a faculty appointment in the School of Medicine.
